Based in Lisbon, Portugal, Vasco is known for Montanha, Um fim do mundo, and Cigano, for which he won Best Cinematography Award at the Toronto WildSounds Film Festival.  His films Arena and A Drowning Man both participated at the Short Films Selection at the Cannes Film Festival, with Arena winning the Palme d'Or.
